Postnatal Care
This includes at least a 3-day post-birth visit (along with the heel prick for the newborn screening tests), lactation support, and a 6-week checkup. I often will also do a 2-week checkup and sometimes a 1-day checkup.
We talk about how things are going and check on baby and mama's vitals. This is also a good time to rehearse the birth experience. Exercise and tips for healing are provided. Pap smears are also offered at 6 weeks, but not required.
Though not a CLC, I am passionate about breastfeeding and have training to help correct most breastfeeding issues. Don't give up! Always consult! I encourage contact by text at anytime, or call if urgent. Most non-emergent business occurs during regular business hours.
This is a very important time of the journey into motherhood, and is a crucial time for optimal care.
